‘Sonic 2’ Is Happening and Filming Starts This Spring

After the surprising success of last year’s Sonic the Hedgehog, it was announced that a sequel to it would be made. This sequel would include even more characters from the video game franchise including Sonic’s kid sidekick Tails the two tailed fox, who made a brief cameo at the end of the first movie, and the popular character Knuckles the echidna, who is Sonic’s rival turned friend. It is unknown if any other video game characters like Amy, Rouge, Shadow, or any of Sonic’s other friends will be appearing in the new movie. Sonic and Dr. Robotnik will of course be appearing in the sequel.

According to Screen Rant the filming of the sequel will start very soon. Apparently actress Tika Sumpter revealed that the of filming Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will begin this coming March. It is believed that some scenes of this movie will be shot in Hawaii. Presumably the movie is being shot in Hawaii in order to match the appearance of the famous Emerald Hill Zone from the Sonic 2 video game. Other scenes are going to be filmed in Vancouver Canada.

Paramount is aiming to release Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in April 2022, as long as the pandemic does not disrupt the movie’s production.
