The first official footage for Sofia Coppola‘s Civil War drama The Beguiled is finally here, and it promises for dark, moody, and girl powered genre film. The film stars Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning, Angourie Rice, and Colin Farrell as the film’s sole male character.
The Beguiled takes place during the Civil War as an injured Union soldier is held at a Confederate girls’ school. One by one, he manipulates the girls and women to fall for him, leading them to turn on each other and eventually on him.
The film looks to pull from different aesthetics of Coppola’s previous films like The Virgin Suicides and Marie Antoinette, with this latest film being the darkest of all her previous fare.
