Skydance Media to Reboot Robert Rodriguez ‘Spy Kids’ Franchise

The creator and director of Spy Kids, Robert Rodriguez, is partnering with Skydance Media and Spyglass Media Group to reboot the comedy franchise following a family of super-secret agents. Rodriguez is set to direct and write the upcoming Sky Kids movie.

Spyglass, who owns the rights to the Spy Kids franchise, will produce while Skydance will serve as the lead studio and oversee the development and production of the reboot.

Rodriguez released the first Sky Kids all the way back in 2001 and grossed worldwide about $147 million, followed by Spy Kids 2: The Island of Lost Dreams in 2002 and just a year later Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over and when it seemed like the end of Sky Kids saga in 2011 Spy Kids: All the Time in the World came out with a new set of faces that starred Jessica Alba, Jeremy Piven, and Joel McHale. The franchise earned more than $550 million worldwide.

The only thing that can be said about what is to come from the next generation of Sky Kids reboot is that the plot will revolve around a multicultural family’s actions.

Rodriguez is best known for Sky Kids to Millennials and Gen Zs. He has directed other movies that fans have come to love to include The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl, Alita: Battle Angel, and his latest movie that came out on Netflix in December, We Can Be Heroes.

Before Spy Kids, however, he made his name with adult films like Desperado and From Dusk Till Dawn.

I want to write something outside the normal, something no one would think to write about in a unique way. It also shows how far I am willing to go to produce something amazing that will get more readers interested in the world of Journalism. I am on my way to making a professional life for myself.
