Shield Your Eyes From the ‘Bird Box’ Trailer

Don’t look now, but there’s a new contender for Best Sensory Deprivation film, and Netflix’s Bird Box looks to be no slouch when it arrives on the streaming service and lands in limited theaters later this year. Based on the 2014 novel by Josh Malerman, Bird Box arrives hot on the heels of fan-favorite A Quiet Place, offering similar post-apocalyptic thrills but focusing on sight rather than sound. Directed by Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, and Emmy Award winning writer and director Susanne Bier (In Better World, Things We Lost in the Fire, The Night Manager) and adapted to the screen by Eric Heisserer (Arrival, Bloodshot), the near-future edge-of-your-seat horror thriller looks to be a masterclass in suspense.

One glimpse and a person is driven to deadly violence. Five years after it began there appears to be no explanation for an unknown force that causes those afflicted to take their own lives. A handful of survivors remain, forced to wear blindfolds to escape death. Running low on supplies, the survivors must row twenty miles downriver to find salvation, relying on nothing but their wits and ears. And something is following them.

Engulfed in darkness, a group of strangers band together to face the unseen terror.  Drawing on their past and present experiences, the survivors are in constant danger from not only an unknown enemy, but from those closest to them who can’t be trusted. Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock leads an all-star cast that includes Sarah Paulson, Trevante Rhodes, BD Wong, Machine Gun Kelly, and John Malkovich.

Never lose sight of survival. Watch the trailer for Bird Box below, and prepare to enter a world of darkness on December 21, 2018.

I enjoy watching movies and TV shows, playing video games, singing badly to pop songs in the car, eating delicious food, and drinking fine alcoholic beverages. I play basketball when my crippling knee and back pain allows, and I try to hit the gym on a regular basis. I have a son and a sugar glider, and when I'm not combing the internet for breaking news I am likely traveling or riding my Razor scooter.
