Sequel to ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ Delayed To December 2021

It looks like our friendly neighborhood’s Spider-Man is still far from swinging into the big screen. The sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home has been delayed by one month. Originally scheduled for November 5, 2021, the sequel is now set to hit theaters on December 17, 2021.

On Thursday, Sony announced the postponement after numerous Disney films were also reported to be delayed. The date is only based on the domestic release calendar, so the international release of the sequel is yet to be known.

The Far From Home sequel will take the spot formerly held by Avatar 2, which is then pushed back a year to Dec. 16, 2022.

The sequel, also marked as Tom Holland‘s third movie in the Spider-Man franchise, was originally supposed to be released on July 16, 2021. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic creating shakeups in production and release dates in various projects, the sequel had been postponed to the previous November date back in April.

In this sequel, audiences should anticipate Tom Holland to return to the big screen, teaming up with the franchise’s director of the last two installments, Jon Watts. Spider-Man: Far From Home, also starring Jake Gyllenhaal, became Sony’s highest grossing feature worldwide with $1.13 billion.
