Saoirse Ronan Shines As A Struggling Teenager In New ‘Lady Bird’ Trailer

Coming-of-age films are always a hot topic in the indie film industry. It has received this much popularity because of the lack of AAA films being released on such a topic. Many fear it is too much of a risk for bigger companies to do them as often, which has led to the rise in these films within the indie scene. Lady Bird focuses more heavily on not just the coming of age of a young woman, but also her relationship with her family and friends as seen in this new trailer.

Christine “Lady Bird” McPherson feels like she is the complete opposite of her mother, and proceeds to act recklessly for the sake of being angsty. Her bond with her mother becomes strained, even after discovering that they are more alike than she first realized. The film looks to focus on the difficulties between a hard-working mother providing for her family and a daughter who has yet to discover her true calling in life.

“Lady Bird” is played by Saoirse Ronan (The Grand Budapest Hotel) with her mother played by Laurie Metcalf (Toy Story). It is being directed and written by Greta Gerwig, who made a name for herself as a writer and actress and will be making her directorial debut with this film. It is set to release in February 2018.
