Ron Livingston to Replace Billy Crudup as Henry Allen in ‘The Flash’

Barry Allen is getting a new father. The role of Henry Allen in the DCEU and for The Flash has officially been recast, and Ron Livingston will be replacing Billy Crudup, after the actor had to depart due to a scheduling conflict with The Morning Show.

Ironically, Crudup’s show stars Mark Duplass, who looks strikingly similar to Ron Livingston; the pair were even in 2018’s Tully together.

While the Crudup has played Henry Allen once, it is now double with the release of the Snyder Cut, as Crudup is one of the few supporting actors to appear in both films. However, his role largely remains an extended cameo. While recasts are always difficult, this seems like the best for both parties as The Flash has been on the DC films shelf for a long time, and if this recast proves anything, it is that the film will finally begin production soon.

Ron Livingston is probably most well-known for his recent time on Search Party as well as roles in Office Space, The Conjuring, and Adaptation. The actor brings a lot to his roles and this will certainly be an interesting character to portray, avoiding any spoilers on Henry Allen’s typical role in his son’s story.

The film is looking to get underway and hit its 2022 release date. The cast, aside from Ron Livingston, will include, Ezra Miller, Kiersey Clemons, Ben Affleck, Sasha Calle, Maribel Verdú and Michael Keaton.

The Flash speeds into theaters on November 4, 2022.
