Ridley Scott Set To Direct New Film ‘BOMB’

Although Ridley Scott has just turned 86, it looks like the iconic director has no plans for slowing down. Scott has directed a wide range of genres and created some well-known movies. His list of accolades include titles such as Alien, Blade Runner, Thelma & Louise, and Gladiator amongst so many more recognizable names. His latest release, which is still in theaters, is Napoleon starring Joaquin Phoenix. The director already has more projects lined up, including the much-anticipated Gladiator 2. Along with working on this sequel, Scott will also be directing a new film called BOMB.

BOMB is based on Kevin McMullin’s short story and has been acquired by 20th Century Studios, according to Deadline. The new film is described as having “franchise potential” and is said to create a “killer role” for a young actor. McMullin will be expanding his short story and writing the script for the new action thriller, which will be produced by Scott Free Productions. BOMB is being described as a mixture of the films Dog Day Afternoon and Speed.

Deadline also gave a brief description of the film, describing it as follows: “Frankie Ippolito is a hostage negotiator called into duty the night before his wedding in London. A man who has parked himself in a construction site in Piccadilly Circus is standing on a newly uncovered, unexploded bomb from WWII. He tells local law enforcement he will only speak with Frankie, and this sets off a chain of events in which Frankie is drawn into an overnight struggle to stop the bomber with whom he has a past.”

While there is no release date confirmed yet, this is sure to be a film that action fans can look forward to seeing.
