Recent ‘The Love Hypothesis’ Updates

According to Deadline, the final details for The Love Hypothesis have been revealed. The film is based on the novel by Ali Hazelwood (Under One Roof, Loathe to Love You) and published on September 21, 2021 as it gained popularity on the sub genre BookTok for its concept. It was also a fan fiction inspired piece from the Star Wars ship Rey and Kylo Ren. Olive Smith is a recently admitted graduate student studying chemistry behind falling in love. She attempts to fake date professor Dr. Carlson who is considered one of the strictest professors and disliked amongst the student body as she convinces her friend Anh she is over her crush Jeremy.

“The universe is built on trying to find order through connection.” The trailer opens up with clips of Olive and Dr. Carlson shows across the screen. “Molecules stay in motion, vibrating and colliding until they find a match. And when they do, something miraculous happens. They form a bond.”

“I’m seeing someone,” Olive says to Anh to convince her out of her crush on Jeremy. To which a confused Anh asks, “You mean like a therapist.”

Olive bluffs as it reveals her bubbly and quirky personality and states, “What? No. Like a human man.”

The trailer was released on June 27 and the film will be released September 23. Watch the trailer below:

The film will be starring Lili Reinhart (Hustlers, Forbidden Fruits) as Olive, Tom Bateman (Behind Her Eyes, Hedda) as Dr. Adam Carlson, Arty Froushan (Carnival Row, The Persian Version) as Tom, Jaboukie Young-White (Strange World, The Threesome) as Malcom, Nicholas Duvernay (The White Lotus, Not Suitable for Work) as Jeremy and Rachel Masch (Unstable, Adults) as Anh. The director is Claire Scanlon. The producer is Elizabeth Cantillon (Persuasion, Galaxy Quest). The executive producers include Hazelwood, Reinhart and Catherine Hagedorn (Invincible, American Sweatshop). The film is working with Amazon MGM Studios and MRC to release on Prime video.

Hazelwood wrote other popular books such as Love on the Brain, Love, Theoretically, Check & Mat, and more. Love, Theoretically will also be adapted into a television series for Amazon MGM Studios. The director is Sofia Alvarez (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, Along for the Ride). Author Colleen Hoover (It Ends with Us, Regretting You) will produce.
