Lucasfilm’s ‘New Jedi Order’ And Dave Filoni’s Crossover Feature Appear In Latest Production Listings

Two previously announced Star Wars feature films have resurfaced with updated statuses in recent industry tracking data. According to listings published in the latest issue of Production Weekly, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Star Wars: New Jedi Order and an untitled feature directed by Lucasfilm Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni are both actively circulating in pre-production pipelines. While inclusion in production trade tracking does not represent a formal studio greenlight or an official production start announcement from Lucasfilm or parent company The Walt Disney Company, the updated registry indicates that both projects remain active in development behind the scenes.

New Jedi Order, initially revealed at Star Wars Celebration Europe in April 2023, is designed around the return of Daisy Ridley as Rey Skywalker. Set roughly 15 years after the events of 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the story focuses on Rey’s attempts to establish a newly reconstituted Jedi Order. The project has undergone extensive creative revisions, initially conceived with screenwriters Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson, followed by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, before screenwriter George Nolfi (The Bourne Ultimatum, The Adjustment Bureau) boarded to pen a new draft in early 2025. Filoni’s untitled project was originally conceptualized as a cinematic culmination of the “Mandoverse” timeline, bringing together intersecting narrative threads from live-action Disney+ series including The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, and Ahsoka. Following the theatrical release of Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian and Grogu, which accumulated $345 million at the worldwide box office, questions remained regarding how Lucasfilm would approach subsequent interconnected storylines on the big screen.

Currently, the only Star Wars feature film holding a locked theatrical release date is Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter, starring Ryan Gosling, which is scheduled to premiere in theaters on May 28, 2027. Neither Lucasfilm nor Disney has announced official production start dates or theatrical release windows for New Jedi Order or Filoni’s untitled project.
