‘Queen’s Gambit’ Moses Ingram Set to play Robyn Crawford in Whitney Houston Biopic ‘I Wanna Dance With Somebody’

Moses Ingram is set to play Whitney Houston’s assistant and creative director Robyn Crawford alongside actress Naomi Ackie in Sony Pictures and TriStar Pictures’ biopic I Wanna Dance With Somebody. The film will tell the story of the life and music of the iconic singer. Anthony McCarten is writing the script and Stella Meghie is directing.

The film is being produced by Pat Houston on behalf of the Houston Estate. Nicole Brown, Shary Shirazi and Brittany Morrissey will oversee the project for TriStar, according to Deadline.

Whitney Houston is the most awarded female music artist of all time, as well as being one of the best selling recording artists of all time, selling more than 200 million records worldwide. She won six Grammys, 16 Billboard Music Awards, 22 American Music Awards and two Emmys. In 2020, Whitney was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Ingram is known for her role as Jolene in The Queen’s Gambit. The series has recived Golden Globe, Critics Choice and AFI awards. She is currently in production on the Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi, starring alongside Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen, and will portray the role of Lady Macduff with Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand in The Tragedy of Macbeth for A24.

I Wanna Dance With Somebody is set to be released on Thanksgiving 2022.
