Popular Norwegian Director Tommy Wirkola to Make Animation Debut With ‘Spermageddon’

Variety has learned exclusively that the successful Norwegian director Tommy Wirkola, who directed films like Dead Snow and Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters is to make his animation debut with musical feature and comedy Spermageddon, which follows the beginning stages of life. Rasmus Sivertsen (Captain Sabertooth and the Magic Diamond) will co-direct with Wirkola.

Variety described Spermageddon similarly to the animation and comedy of Sausage Party, which “explores mature content through comedy, creative animation, and grown-up language.”

Spermageddon follows two narratives: the emerging love story between two awkward teenagers, Jens and Lisa, who are having sex for the first time, and the other storyline is the adventurous journey of Simon the Semen and his companions to achieve the ultimate goal, the Egg.

“This is both a road movie and an epic adventure, a most incredible journey, much like Lord of the Rings. But instead of Orcs and elves, our heroes have to do battle with sperm-killing creams and e.Coli trolls,” said Wirkola.

“We have a love for everything unexpected, and this script is hilarious, bold, sometimes shockingly true, and yet touching,” said Yohann Comte, Charades’s co-founder.

Comte also told Variety that Charades was excited to manage Spermageddon and called it “an irreverent and creative production around a universal, hot theme.”

Qvisten, a Norwegian animation company, is in charge of the animation, which is expected to begin production of Spermageddon by the end of the year.

It also shows how far I am willing to go to produce something amazing that will get more readers interested in the world of Journalism. I am on my way to making a professional life for myself.
