The Intervention premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival on January 26th and was promptly snapped up by Paramount Home Media for worldwide rights. The dramedy will have a day-and-date VOD release through Paramount Home Media, and a theatrical release through a third party.
Clea DuVall (Argo, TV’s The Lizzie Borden Story) wore four hats in the making of the film – actor, writer, director, and executive producer. This is her writing and film feature directorial debut.
The Intervention also stars Melanie Lynskey (Digging for Fire), Cobie Smulders (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Alia Shawkat (Green Room), Natasha Lyonne (TV’s Orange Is the New Black), Vincent Piazza (The Wannabe), Ben Schwartz (TV’s House of Lies), and Jason Ritter (Embers). The story revolves around four couples who get together ostensibly for a weekend getaway, when all along the trip was orchestrated as an intervention for one of the couple’s marriage. Lynskey won a Special Jury Prize for her performance in the film.
The feature was produced by Paul Bernon, Sam Slater, and Sev Ohanian. Mel Eslyn, David Bernon, and DuVall executive produced.
