The slow creep toward the release of Paper Towns has finally begun with the unveiling of the film’s official poster, via the Paper Towns Twitter account.
From John Green, the author of The Fault in Our Stars, Paper Towns is a coming-of-age story about seeing others for who they truly are as opposed to what our imaginations project them to be. Starring Nat Wolff (Palo Alto) and Cara Delevingne (The Face of an Angel), the story follows Quentin Jacobsen, a timid high school senior who embarks on the road trip of his life in search of the beautiful and enigmatic girl next door, Margo Roth Spiegelman, after she mysteriously goes missing.
The script was adapted by TFIOS scribes Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, and directed by Jake Shreier (Robot & Frank) for 20th Century Fox.
The film’s poster (above) actually does well to reveal key insights into the story’s themes. By covering part of Margo’s face with her hair, the image plays with the idea that surface appearances may not reveal the whole truth—a reality that Quentin must face throughout the story in order to make sense of Margo’s disappearance.
Accompanying the poster’s release was the announcement for the film’s first official trailer. Author John Green will appear on the Today Show on Thursday, March 19 for its premiere. The Paper Towns release date, which was originally scheduled for this coming June, has been pushed back to July 24. Check back next week for our coverage on the Paper Towns movie trailer!
