A new production team for the Oscars was announced yesterday by Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. David Hill and Reginald Hudlin have been named as the producers for the 88th Academy Awards, as announced by Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs. “We’re delighted to have this talented team on board,” Isaacs said yesterday. “David is a true innovator with a dynamic personality. His vast experience as a live events producer, coupled with Reggie’s energy, creativity and talent as a filmmaker, is sure to make this year’s Oscar telecast a memorable one.”
Hill, a News Corp. veteran, is an Emmy-winning producer of sports and live events. He ran Fox Sports Media Group and oversaw the production of the last two seasons of American Idol. Most recently a Senior Vice President at 21st Century Fox, Hill has just launched his own live events and reality TV development company, Hilly.
Experienced television director Hudlin has shepherded several awards ceremonies of late including producing the Governors Awards for the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences last year, and executive-producing the NAACP Image Awards for the last 3 years. He was also a producer on 2012’s Oscar-nominated Django Unchained.
Neil Meron and Craig Zadan (Chicago) served as producers for the last three Oscar telecasts. It was confirmed shortly after the 2015 telecast that the duo would be not be returning for fourth year. The Oscar ceremony will be telecast live from the Dolby Theater on February 28, 2016.
