Official ‘Dunkirk’ Trailer Prepares Audiences for a Tense Rescue

The official trailer for Christopher Nolan‘s Dunkirk will have audiences bracing themselves right along with the film’s Allied forces. Revealing a great deal more of plot and characters in this latest footage, the trailer depicts the battle of Dunkirk during WWII and the daring rescue of the Allied troops as told from air, land, and sea.

In the air, we have Tom Hardy; on the sea, we have the squabbling Mark Rylance and Cillian Murphy; and on land we have young soldier and newcomer Aneurin Barnard (Citadel). Joining him on the beaches of France will be pop star Harry Styles in his feature debut. Also in the cast is Kenneth Branagh, James D’Arcy (Cloud Atlas), Jack Lowden (A United Kingdom), and Will Attenborough (Denial).

Whereas previous teasers revealed the tense setting and Nolan’s signature grand-scale style, this trailer digs further into the plot and how each of the three fronts will work together to capture the desperation and all-hands-on-deck nature of one of the greatest war rescues ever recorded.

See the trailer below and watch the film in theaters on July 21.
