Curry Barker’s Obsession is getting a Blu-Ray, 4K and DVD release on July 14th of this year. All three can be pre-ordered on Amazon, with the Blu-ray edition being priced the highest at $33.99. Each edition is being sold as a collector’s edition that comes with director commentary and Obsession Unleashed, which is a behind-the-scenes look at the movie. Only the 4k edition comes with a Blu-ray copy and a digital copy, while the Blu-ray edition comes with a digital copy, and the DVD comes by itself.
It was late last month that the movie got a streaming release on Apple TV and Prime Video. The movie starring Inde Navarrete (Superman and Louis) and Michael Johnston (Teen Wolf), released on May 15th of this year, was the theatrical debut of Curry Barker. Before this movie, Barker worked on smaller projects like sketches and shorts on YouTube. His first movie to direct was another horror movie titled Milk & Serial.
In an NBC interview, Barker said,
We’re finally getting to the point where people are like, ‘okay, fine, I’ll put my film on YouTube,’ versus when I was in film school, that was kinda like a last resort. I was like screw it, just throw it on YouTube and see what happens.
