Universal Pictures has expanded the cast for its upcoming feature installment in The Mummy franchise, adding actor Numan Acar (Young Sherlock, Spider-Man: Far From Home) alongside returning franchise veterans Kevin J. O’Connor and Oded Fehr. Both O’Connor and Fehr originated their roles in Stephen Sommers’ 1999 action-adventure feature The Mummy. O’Connor portrayed Beni Gabor, a treacherous former French Foreign Legion soldier who became a servant to the resurrected high priest Imhotep. Fehr played Medjai chieftain Ardeth Bay, a role he subsequently reprised in 2001’s The Mummy Returns. Acar’s specific role in the project has not yet been disclosed by the studio.

The newly added cast members join original stars Brendan Fraser, Rachel Weisz, and John Hannah, who are set to reprise their roles as Rick O’Connell, Evelyn Carnahan, and Jonathan Carnahan. Actor Michael Johnston (Obsession) is also attached to the ensemble. While specific narrative details remain under wraps, the film is scheduled for a wide theatrical release on October 15, 2027. The production is directed by filmmaking duo Radio Silence, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Scream, Ready or Not), from a screenplay written by David Coggeshall (The Family Plan, Orphan: First Kill).

Franchise producer Sean Daniel returns to produce alongside William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein of Project X Entertainment, as well as Clayton Townsend. Fraser serves as an executive producer alongside Hivemind’s Jason F. Brown. Universal Executive Vice President of Production Development Jay Polidoro and Director of Production Development Jacqueline Garell are supervising the feature for the studio.
