While actress Noomi Rapace (the first The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) headlined the Ridley Scott-directed Alien prequel Prometheus back in 2012, it appeared for the longest stretch that she wouldn’t return for the upcoming Alien: Covenant. That may not be the case as sources involved with the movie – as reported by Deadline – seemed to indicate that Rapace was attached to join the cast and shoot scenes for the franchise entry in Australia.
Rapace portrayed the archaeologist Elizabeth Shaw in Prometheus, a character that famously performed a self-administering abortion in the sci-fi reboot. If news or Rapace’s reprisal is accurate, she will re-team with a returning Michael Fassbender in Alien: Covenant. Fassbender’s Steve Jobs co-star Katherine Waterston as well as Billy Crudup, Danny McBride and Demian Bichir round out Scott’s newly assembled ensemble cast. The premise of Alien: Covenant is being kept secretive for now.
Alien: Covenant is set to open in theaters on August 4, 2017.
