The New York Film Festival has officially unveiled the lineup for its 2026 main slate, giving movie fans a preview of the films that will take center stage this fall. According to The Hollywood Reporter , this year’s selection features 32 films from filmmakers around the world, combining established directors with fresh voices and several highly anticipated premieres.
The festival will open with James Gray’s Paper Tiger, while Tony Gilroy’s Behemoth! has been chosen as the centerpiece selection. Ava DuVernay’s documentary 14th will close the festival, bringing this year’s event to an end. The lineup also includes new films from acclaimed filmmakers such as Pedro Almodóvar, Ryusuke Hamaguchi, Mike Leigh, Lee Chang-dong, Andrew Haigh, Pawel Pawlikowski, Radu Jude, and Ira Sachs.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, artistic director Dennis Lim said this year’s lineup reflects a wide range of storytelling styles and perspectives from filmmakers working across the globe. The festival also features several movies that premiered earlier this year at Cannes, along with Chris Rock’s latest directorial effort, Misty Green.
