New York Film Critics Circle Names ‘La La Land’ Best of 2016

With Moonlight topping The Gotham Awards and Manchester By The Sea taking top honors with the National Board of Review, everyone has been anxiously awaiting The New York Film Critics Circle best of 2016 and the winner for Best Film is- La La Land. Among the list of winners are top contenders Moonlight and Manchester By The Sea winning multiple awards.

According to IndieWire, all 37 members of the NYFCC is meeting today and will announce their honorees throughout the day from Best Film to Best Animated Feature.

Best Film: La La Land

Best Director: Barry Jenkins for Moonlight

Best Screenplay: Kenneth Lonergan for Manchester By The Sea

Best Actress: Isabelle Huppert for both Elle and Things to Come

Best Actor: Casey Affleck, Manchester By The Sea

Best Supporting Actress: Michelle Williams for both Manchester By The Sea and Certain Women

Best Supporting Actor: Mahershala Ali, Moonlight

Best Cinematography: James Laxton for Moonlight

Best Non-fiction Film:  O.J.: Made in America

Best Foreign Language Film: Toni Erdmann

Best Animated Feature: Zootopia

Best First Film: The Edge of Seventeen and Krisha

Special Awards: Thelma Schoonmaker and Julie Dash’s Daughters of the Dust 25th Anniversary Restoration
