New Trailer Released For ‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’ World War II Film Starring Henry Cavill

According to Variety, Lionsgate has officially released the first trailer for a new World War II film titled The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. The film is directed by Guy Ritchie and stars Henry Cavill, Alan Ritchson, Eiza González, Henry Golding, Alex Pettyfer, and Cary Elwes. Its theatrical release is set for April 19, 2024. The film is an action spy comedy inspired by true events surrounding Winston Churchill, James Bond author Ian Fleming, and a secret WWII combat organization. According to the film’s synopsis, the plot follows how a “clandestine squad’s unconventional and entirely ‘ungentlemanly’ fighting techniques against the Nazis significantly changed the course of the war and gave birth to the modern Black Ops unit.”

The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare is based on the book of the same name by Damien Lewis, a war correspondent and military historian. The film’s script is written by Arash Amel, Eric Johnson, Guy Ritchie, and Paul Tamasy. The pitch was sold to Jerry Bruckheimer and Paramount in 2015 by Tamasy and Johnson who originally initiated the project.

Along with Bruckheimer, the film will be produced with Ivan Atkinson, John Friedberg for Black Bear, and Chad Oman. Serving as executive producers alongside Tamasy and Johnson will be Olga Filipuk, Scott Lastaiti, and Damien Lewis.
