Lionsgate has released a teaser trailer for the upcoming finale to The Hunger Games saga, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2, which is set for release on November 20, 2015 .
The trailer shows the evolution of the series’ logo, as audio from each respective movie plays in the background. At the end, we get a snippet of audio from what is likely to be a pivotal scene in the final movie, where Katniss – played by Jennifer Lawrence – commands, “Tonight, turn your weapons to the Capitol.”
While this will be the final entry of Katniss’ story as told in author Suzanne Collins’ book series, it has yet to be announced if Lionsgate has any other plans for the franchise. Warner Bros. recently announced plans to continue the Harry Potter franchise with trilogy based on Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which is inspired by a textbook taught at Hogwarts. It wouldn’t be surprising if Lionsgate worked with Collins to make a movie built around the failed District 13 uprising alluded to in the main series. Lionsgate recently acquired the rights to Blackbird, which will add to their slate of YA novel adaptations that includes The Hunger Games, Twilight and the Divergent series.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 will be released on IMAX, 3D, and 2D formats. You can check out the teaser below.
