‘New Mutants’ Delayed, Again, to April 2020

Some may remember the initial trailer that came out for the X-Men spin-off horror film that came out in 2017 known as The New Mutants. The first trailer garnered a ton of interest but little did fans know that they probably would not be able to see the film until two years after its initial release date. Disney announced new release dates for various films under their newly purchased 20th Century Fox studio. New Mutants is set to release on April 3, 2020.

This seems like unfortunate news for the X-Men spin-off due to the fact that this is the second time the film has been delayed. The film was supposed to come out in April 2018 but after Disney’s Fox purchase, the film was delayed to have several reshoots in August of 2019. The reshoots were rumored to be because of either Disney’s implementation of the X-Men to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, creative differences with the director and studio, or a new character to be added to the reshoots.

Unfortunately, with not much appearing since the film’s initial trailer and new reports of reshoots that have not even occurred yet, many were doubtful of the film’s new release date. With such a troubled production, it may seem that Fox’s version of the X-Men may have a tragic end with both this and Dark Phoenix tracking to perform rather poorly.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
