Last week, Marvel released new official trailer for the upcoming Infinity War installment. Now, courtesy of Comicbook.com, there’s more new footage to feast our eyes on. The teaser includes snippets of classically teenage Groot (Vin Diesel) as well as a new version of Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey, Jr.) Iron Man suit – this one seems to be interwoven with Wakandan technology and looks to rival the high-powered design of T’Challa’s (Chadwick Boseman) Black Panther armor. Groot is shown with his fellow Guardians and doesn’t seem to appreciate Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), parenting him.
Avengers: Infinity War is directed by the Russo brothers, Anthony and Joe, who are taking on the ensemble super-crew for the first time, as well as helming the Untitled Avengers 4 film set for release in May of next year. In recent interview, they spoke about the challenges of including meaningful storylines for everyone involved. With it being the largest Marvel cast to date there is a lot of ground to cover, but it looks like the brothers have taken priority in that department, with Joe saying that:
“Everyone is interwoven into this plot, in a way where they have an emotional connection to the story, and are emotionally effected by the stakes in the movie. You can’t tell a movie with this many characters, and not have each of those characters show up, honor them from their different franchises, if they are not motivated to be there, if they are not in life or death circumstances, if they are not fighting to save their belief system, or their way of life.”
The Guardians of the Galaxy look to have the most increased involvement. The latest footage shows scenes of Gamora (Zoe Saldana) as well as narration hinting at her knowledge of supervillain Thanos (Josh Brolin). Also included is Star-Lord overstepping Tony Stark as the outspoken leader of the group: “I think it’s good, except it sucks. So, let me do the plan, and that way it might be really good.”
