New Damien Chazelle Film ‘Babylon’ May Star Emma Stone & Brad Pitt

It has just been announced that upcoming film Babylon may feature two of Hollywood’s biggest stars: Emma Stone and Brad Pitt. Damien Chazelle, who directed films such as Whiplash, La La Land (also starring Stone), and First Man, will direct Babylon from a script he wrote.

Babylon will cover a moment in Hollywood when the movies were transitioning from silent films to talkies in the late 1920s and early ’30s. Pitt and Stone aren’t confirmed, but for now it is planned that they will star in this R-rated feature. Tobey Maguire, Olivia Hamilton, Matt Plouffe, and Marc Platt will produce.

Paramount acquired the rights to Babylon after eyeing the film when it was first announced earlier this year in July while Pitt’s role in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was premiering. Around that same period of time, Stone’s Zombieland sequel, Zombieland: Double Tap, was getting ready for release as well. Currently, Stone is filming a live action reboot of Disney’s 101 Dalmations focused on the iconic puppy-hating antagonist Cruella de Vil. The film will be called Cruella and is expected to release on May 28, 2021.

Babylon is slated to premiere limited release on December 25, 2021 and will be open for a wide release January 7, 2022. Conveniently just in time for Oscar season.
