Netflix Acquires International Rights Of Kornél Mundruczó-Helmed Drama ‘Pieces Of A Woman’

Netflix centers in on a deal for international rights of the upcoming Kornél Mundruczó-directed film Pieces of a Woman according to Deadline. The film saw its debut in Venice with a premiere in Toronto on Sunday the 13th at the TIFF Bell Lightbox. This is Netflix’s second biggest festival acquisition for the studio following their acquisition of rights to a Halle Berry-helmed Bruised, as well as drama she features as the star in premiering in Toronto.

The cast of Pieces of a Woman include the talents of Molly Parker, Vanessa Kirby, Shia LaBeouf, Sarah Snook, Iliza Shlesinger, Benny Safdie, Jimmie Falls, and Ellen Burstyn. Pieces of a Woman is a brooding drama regarding the destruction of a marriage following a couple’s newborn daughter dying quickly after birth. After the success of his previous work White God, Hungarian director Mundruczó will be making his English language film debut with Pieces of a Woman.

“As a European filmmaker, I couldn’t be more excited and appreciative of finding my home for this film with Netflix,” exclaimed Mundruczo. “Their taste in independent cinema feels like the United Artists of the 1970s. The true champions of filmmakers and original voices for today.”

Netflix has not announced a release date for Pieces of a Woman.
