Director David Ayer is back for another film with Netflix as he will be writing, directing and producing the upcoming adaptation of the Harlan Coben’s bestselling thriller novel Six Years, according to Deadline. He will be collaborating with Chris Long, whom he works with under their Cedar Park banner.
Ayer is known for Will Smith and Joel Edgerton Netflix film Bright, to which Louis Leterrier finalized a deal to helm a sequel, and 2016 DC film Suicide Squad.
The title of Coben’s novel is reference to the amount of time that passed since Jake Fisher witnessed his former lover Natalie, wed another man. He lives for those six years as a heart broken college professor sworn to leave her alone, until her new husband suddenly dies. He takes the opportunity to attempt to win her back, but is thrown by her new strange behavior which he investigates as he gets closer to her once again.
Ayer is coming off his urban drama, The Tax Collector, which he directed and wrote and stars Shia LaBeouf. No cast is attached to this drama yet, but considering his scale of projects and string of working with big name actors on high profile projects, there are sure to be names attached to it soon.
