‘Montage of Heck’ Creator Releases Trailer for New David Bowie Documentary

Brett Morgen is a visionary documentarian who has portrayed the tragic lives of the entertainment industry’s biggest enigm in his films Cobain: Montage of Heck and The Kid Stays in The Picture. The target for his next big feature is a spotlight on the immortal David Bowie. The film’s first trailer looks like an beautiful depiction of the musical genius’s life and music, in the same vein as his previous treatment of Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain. The film is called Moonage Daydream, and is the only film to be endorsed by the Bowie estate.

Morgen is the only filmmaker allowed unconditional access to all of the family’s records of Bowie. The archives allegedly hold rare and never-before-seen footage, recordings, demos, drawings, journals, films, and unfinished tracks. The film also boasts a sound team that Bowie himself used — long time collaborator Tony Visconti and Academy Award-winning sound mixer Paul Massey. The film debuted last night at the Cannes Film Festival and is reportedly to be released in theaters in September.
