Mila Kunis (Jupiter Ascending), Christina Applegate (Vacation), and Kristen Bell (Frozen) have all joined the upcoming STX comedy formerly known as Bad Moms.
Kunis will reportedly play Amy, a supermom who is fed up with balancing motherhood, committees, and her career. She joins forces with two mothers in a similar position (Bell and Applegate) to liberate themselves and inadvertently clash with Gwendolyn, a clique leader of fellow perfect moms.
The project once had Leslie Mann (The Other Woman) starring in the film and Judd Apatow (Trainwreck) directing the script written by Jon Lucas and Scott Moore (The Hangover). They left the project back in June, halting production. Lucas and Moore will take over directing duties.
While Applegate has played a mother before, the project marks new territory for Kunis and Bell who have yet to fill that role in their careers. It will definitely be interesting to see the film tackle the challenges of being a younger mother. Bell is currently set to star in the remake of the TV show CHiPs as well as the Melissa McCarthy (Spy) comedy The Boss. As of now, Kunis has no other projects in the pipeline. Applegate is currently shooting Crash Pad and will be seen next reprising the role of Brittany in Alvin and the Chipmunks: Road Chip.
Paramount hasn’t announced a release date for (the now Untitled) Bad Moms. We’ll have more as production begins and more news releases.
