For her next role, Leslie Mann (40 Year Old Virgin) will be solidifying her place as the ultimate comedy-mom. She is set to star in an untitled R-rated comedy about the trials of raising children penned by The Hangover screenwriters Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, who are also set to direct, according to Deadline. Little is known about the plot, however, Mann’s statement calls it a “funny and heartfelt script about women and the challenges of motherhood.”
Bill Block of the new Block Entertainment and Mann’s husband Judd Apatow are producing the flick. Block sees huge potential for the script, calling it “a hit and a global female comedy.”
This is not the first time that Mann has tackled the comedic mom role. Most notably, she played a scene-stealing mother in the Seth Rogen comedy Knocked Up. That role garnered a spin-off film starring her and Paul Rudd (My Idiot Brother) titled This is 40, which focused on the issues of middle-aged parenting and growing older. Last year, Mann proved that she could carry her own female-driven comedy when she starred in The Other Woman alongside Cameron Diaz (Charlie’s Angels) and supermodel Kate Upton. Mann will next appear in the Vacation remake and the romantic-comedy How to Be Single.
