Marvel’s Heartfelt Farewell to Legend Stan Lee

After the passing of Stan Lee this past week, many friends and colleagues paid tribute to the creative mind that birthed some of the biggest entertainment properties in the entire world. Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. posted picture of himself and Lee, stating “I owe it all to you,,, Rest In Peace Stan.” Chris Pratt, Jeremy Renner, Ryan Reynolds, and Mark Ruffalo also posted messages of admiration, appreciation, and love for the comic book legend. The internet has been filled with online fan art depicting Lee with his creations and lovingly drawn portraits of him all in the hope to honor the genre-defining genius.

But no one is more grateful to Lee than Marvel Studios. In a tribute to Lee, Marvel Entertainment released a heartfelt Youtube video discussing just how much impact Lee has had. The video assembles old clips and pictures of Lee throughout the years and shows a smattering of his iconic creations. Recent clips of Lee attending Comic-Con and red carpet events remind us of his lively and lovable personality.

The heads of Marvel discuss their experience knowing Lee and the unfathomable amount of lives he has changed because of his creativity. Vice President of Marvel, Sana Amanat, states, “He built American mythology because stories are really what stay with us.” Not only did Lee create iconic characters, he embedded them with so much love and affection that there is a hero that almost everyone can relate to. Despite the seemingly infinite number of characters created by Stan Lee, Tom Brevoort puts it best when he states “Stan’s best creation was always Stan.” So from all of us here at Mxdwn Movies, we hope for a never-ending peaceful rest for Stan Lee; you deserve nothing less.

Keidan Chavez: I am an undergraduate attending Whittier College majoring in screen writing and journalism. I love to watch movies, play Red Dead Redemption 2 and read whenever I get the chance. I will watch anything related to Wright, Tarantino, The Coen Brothers or Nolan. I will also play anything made by Naughty Dog or Rockstar Games. I love being able to experience great stories, especially when I am able to share that experience with others. I also love learning about movies and sharing that knowledge to those that are just as passionate.
