Netflix has cast Kyle Chandler to star alongside Jason Momoa in Slumberland, new film that takes influence from Windsor McCay’s Little Nemo: Adventures in Slumberland comic strip. Chris O’Dowd and Marlow Barkley are also set to star.
Francis Lawrence is set to direct the film. He previously directed the Will Smith-led post-apocalyptic action thriller I am Legend, and the films based on the last two books in The Hunger Games franchise.
McCay’s original comic strip, which began in 1905 and ended in 1927, focused on a young boy named Nemo who dreamed himself into fantastical adventures. In the last panel of each strip, Nemo would wake up from his dream.
Chandler most recently starred in Godzilla: King of Monsters and George Clooney’s Hulu war miniseries, Catch-22. You’ll also be able to see Chandler in the Netflix film Midnight Sky, a post-apocalyptic drama directed by and starring Clooney, which is set to come out this December.
The last time we saw Momoa on the big screen was in 2019 when he voiced Aquaman in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. The Aquaman star also has leading role in the upcoming sci-fi epic, Dune, which was originally set to release this December. The film was delayed to October 2021 likely due to the pandemic and the impact it’s had on ticket sales.
