Kevin Feige Promoted to Chief Creative Officer of Marvel Studios

With the enormous success of his work on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, many have speculated that Kevin Feige will gain more power as producer for the Walt Disney Company. It was even speculated that Feige would be taking over Lucasfilm replacing Kathleen Kennedy. Fortunately, it was announced that Feige has been promoted to a much simpler office: Chief Creative Officer of Marvel Studios.

Prior to this, Feige oversaw various productions of the projects affiliated with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Being promoted to Chief Creative Officer meanshe will not only oversee future film projects but the overall creation of Marvel related-projects including comics, television, and animation. As a result, Marvel shows like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will now be under the Marvel Studios banner, meaning Feige will have more input on their productions.

Feige’s promotion will also imply that nearly all future Marvel-related shows will have more ties into the cinematic universe. While shows like Daredevil and The Runaways occasionally referenced film events, they never really tied into the film plots and were often ignored. This recent decision helps reform the whole Marvel brand connection into one big universe, which will help given Feige’s upcoming work on Marvel shows created for Disney Plus.

Despite this however, Dan Buckley will still continue to be a part of Marvel Entertainment as President, but with a dual reporting structure going forward. This means he’ll continue to oversee other non-movie or television-related projects like games and licensing and will report to Feige on whatever creative decisions are made. Regardless, Feige having more input on the Marvel brand as a whole will mean big things for the future of the Avengers.

Ryan Pineda: When it comes to film, animation, video games and other mediums, I can discuss for hours about how much on why certain films and animated media made me the person I am today. I adore the artistic merit that comes from a lot of pop-culture media and will definitely love to have a conversation about favorite movies any day! I have graduated in 2017 with a BA in Film and Television at the University of Arizona. Been passionate about writing about films due to always having an interesting outlook on the medium. Will always see a film and will definitely be sure to recommend it to someone that I know for a fact would love that movie. Not only that but will also give reasons for why I think that film did or did not work as a movie, and the same can go for other pieces of media like television, video games and especially animated projects.
