Kate Bosworth to Star in Sharon Tate Biopic

Kate Bosworth has signed on to star in husband Michael Polish’s upcoming film, a bio about 1960s model and actress Sharon Tate, whose success is often overshadowed by her tragic death in the horrific Charles Manson-led murders.

As reported by Deadline on Saturday, the film is expected to cover critical events in Sharon Tate’s life, starting with her childhood traveling abroad as an army brat, followed by her rise to fame, her marriage to filmmaekr Roman Polanski, and finally her murder in 1969.  Sharon Tate’s beauty and charm made her one of the most coveted young stars of the 1960s, with her role in Don’t Make Waves (1967) rumored to be the inspiration for ‘Malibu Barbie’.  She also starred in such films as The Fearless Vampire Killers (1967), Valley Of The Dolls (1967) and The Americanization Of Emily (1964). On August 9th, 1969, she and her friends were brutally murdered in Polanski’s Los Angeles home. At the time, Tate was pregnant with her unborn son, who was also a victim of the killings.

Polish, whose career began when he and his brother’s film Twin Falls Idaho was selected for the 1999 Sundance Film Festival, is most known as an ardent and distinctive independent film director, who often collaborates with twin brother Mark Polish.  Currently, Polish is also in development for upcoming sci-fi thriller The Touchstone, as well as sci-fi film Humankind.

This will be Bosworth’s fourth collaboration with her husband (whom she married in 2013). They have also collaborated on Big Sur (2013), Amnesiac (2014), and 90 Minutes in Heaven (2015).  She is currently starring in the second season of Sony/Crackle’s The Art Of More with Dennis Quaid, which will premiere this fall.
