Joey King to Star Alongside Zach Braff in Kickstarter Film

If you’ve seen Crazy, Stupid LoveThe Dark Knight Rises, or most recently, White House Down, then you’ll recognize 13-year-old Joey King, the up-and-coming starlet from Los Angeles, CA. Her newest project is an indie film written and directed by Zach Braff (Garden State) called Wish I Was Here, in which she will play Braff and Kate Hudson’s (Something Borrowed) daughter. [Deadline]

The film, which received all its money through kickstarter.com, a website that allows for ideas to be funded by supportive strangers, is about a mid-thirties actor who’s trying to figure out where he’s going in his life. As Zach Braff said himself in a video on his Kickstarter page, “I wrote Garden State about a time in my life when I was feeling overwhelmed and lost in my twenties. I guess you could say Wish I Was Here is about the next chapter of your life in your thirties- not a sequel in story, but it’s a continuation of the tone.”

Other actors who are set to appear in the film include Mandy Patinkin (Homeland) as Braff’s character Aidan’s father, Jim Parsons (Big Bang Theory) as Aidan’s friend, and Anna Kendrick (Up In The Air).

Double Feature Films, run by Stacey Sher and Michael Shamberg, is producing the flick; past works of the production company include Django Unchained, Contagion, and Braff’s own Garden State.

Look out for Wish I Was Here, expected to complete production in 2014.
