Joe Alwyn Added to ‘Boy Erased’ and ‘Operation Finale’

Joe Alwyn, who came onto the scene in Ang Lee’s Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, has just landed two high ticket movie roles. Alwyn will be joining Joel Edgerton‘s Boy Erased alongside Lucas Hedges and Russell Crowe, as well as Chris Weitz’s Operation Finale, opposite Oscar Isaac and Ben Kingsley.

Boy Erased, currently being developed by Focus Features, is a gay conversion drama following a teenage boy (Hedges) who is outed to their church’s community by his own parents (Crowe and Nicole Kidman), one of whom is the Baptist pastor. He is forced to participate in gay conversion therapy or else face the shunning of his entire family and community.  Also starring in the film are Edgerton, Xavier Dolan, Flea, Cherry Jones, and Troye Sivan.

MGM’s Operation Finale will follow the hunt for the Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann. Kingsley stars as Eichmann, with Isaac, Melanie Laurent, and Nick Kroll also in leading roles. Alwyn is set to play Eichmann’s son who must hide his identity by claiming him as his uncle in order to survive. Eichmann was a lead architect in the Holocaust and orchestrated the movement of millions to concentration camps and to their deaths.

Alwyn had his first breakout role only two years ago, but has managed to keep his momentum going. He is also currently attached to The Favourite with Emma Stone and is filming Mary, Queen of Scots with Saoirse Ronan and Margot Robbie.
