Joaquin Phoenix And Ridley Scott Reunite For Historic Film ‘Napoleon’

Joaquin Phoenix and director Ridley Scott will collaborate again for a historic military film. The film Napoleon has Phoenix starring as Napoleon Bonaparte, the infamous French commander. Sony and Apple recently released the first trailer for the film.

The film’s logline states, “Napoleon’ is an original and personal look at Napoleon’s origins and his swift, ruthless climb to emperor, viewed through the prism of his addictive and often volatile relationship with his wife and one true love, Joséphine. The film captures Napoleon’s famous battles, relentless ambition, and astounding strategic mind as an extraordinary military leader and war visionary.”

Other stars of the film are Vanessa Kirby as Empress Joséphine, Ben Miles as Caulaincourt, Tahar Rahim as Paul Barras, Matthew Needham as Lucien Bonaparte, Ludivine Sagnier as Theresa Cabarrus, Youssef Kerkour as Marshal Davout, Edouard Philipponnat as Tsar Alexander, Phil Cornwall as Sanson ‘The Bourreau,’ Paul Rhys as Talleyrand, Gavin Spokes as Moulins, John Hollingworth as Marshall Ney, and Mark Bonnar as Jean-Andoche Junot.

Screenwriter David Scarpa (All the Money in the World) will join the Napoleon film. Scott will be the director and producer alongside Mark Huffam and Kevin J. Walsh. The film’s co-producers are Winston Azzopardi, Janine Modder, and Raymond Kirk. Aidan Elliot also joined as executive producer.

Napoleon is an Apple-produced film and will premiere Thanksgiving weekend on Nov. 22. At a later date; Napoleon will be available to stream.
