Stellan Skarsgard Is Receiving The Leopard Club Award

On Monday, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Stellan Skarsgard, known for his work in Good Will Hunting, Mamma Mia!, and Nymphomaniac, will be given the Leopard Club Award at the Locarno Film Festival. Along with this, he will be screening his new film What Remains, in which he stars alongside his son.

Skarsgard has held a very successful career. Most recently, the actor has had parts in Dune (and will be returning in Dune: Part Two), Thor: Love and Thunder, and Andor. Likewise, his newest film, What Remains, directed by Ran Huang and written by Skarsgard’s wife, Megan Everett-Skarsgard, has been nominated at several international film festivals for Best Film. The plot reads as:

At a Scandinavian psychiatric hospital, an uneasy triumvirate of multiple murderer Mads, therapist Anna, and policeman Soren, all have a vested interest in unearthing the truth, and a deepening co-dependency threatens to consume them all.

Skarsgard receiving the Leopard Club award for the Locarno’s Film Festival is of great achievement. The Hollywood Reporter quoted Locarno’s artistic director Giona A. Nazzaro speaking on the newest award giving. He states, “Stellan Skarsgard belongs to the tradition of European actors who have distinguished themselves between auteur cinema and Hollywood. Endowed with a very powerful stage charisma, he has been able to make every role he has played unforgettable. Capable of reinventing his character according to the needs of the director and the script, he was able to inject his personality into films that were extremely different from each other.”

Skarsgard will receive his award during the 2023 Locarno Film Festival run, which takes place from August 2nd through 12th.
