Deadline reports that Jason Momoa is finishing negotiations to join the stellar cast for Denis Villenueve’s upcoming Dune adaptation. Dune will be directed by Villenueve. The adaptation was scribed by Villeneuve, Eric Roth, and Jon Spaihts. The red-hot star of Aquaman will play the skilled fighter and pilot, Duncan Idaho. Momoa will join fellow actors, Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Stellan Skarsgård, Charlotte Rampling, Javier Bardem, and Josh Brolin in the classic sci-fi adaptation.
Based on the bestselling Frank Herbert novel, Dune follows the story of the Atreides family, a noble family in the distant future. The narrative centers around the events following the Atreides’ acceptance to control the resource-rich planet, Arrakis. The Atreides are then betrayed by the powerful nobles and Paul Atreides is forced to lead a rebellion to restore his family’s rightful control of Arrakis. Momoa looks like he’ll be a perfect addition to the politically driven sci-fi classic.
