James Wan, best known for his work on the Saw and The Conjuring series, as well as the DCEU film Aquaman, is set to produce a new science fiction thriller through his production company, Atomic Monsters. The film, currently without an official title, will be based off of Frank M. Robinson’s time travel story Hunting Season, with longtime Transformers producer Don Murphy and John Wick franchise creator Derek Kolstad on board to pen the script.
The film’s story will follow a “law officer from the future who is declared an enemy of the state and sentenced to be executed by being sent to the past and stalked by a posse. The man has three days to acclimate to his new era and a find a way to survive” per the story’s official synopsis. Whether the film lives up to the status of the original story is to be seen, but the talent on board is certainly promising for fans of the 1951 short story.
This marks another project for Atomic Monster, who are currently in postproduction on a number of films including Wan’s newest horror film Malignant, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, and There’s Someone Inside Your House.
