‘Spiral: From the Book of Saw’ Delayed Again, Pushed to May 2021

Spiral: From the Book of Saw has received a new release date, this time being pushed back all the way to May 21st, 2021. This comes after the film was initially pushed from it’s original May 15th, 2020 slot to October 23rd as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

Spiral: From the Book of Saw serves as the 9th installment of the popular horror series Saw. The film stars Chris Rock, who also served as executive producer and wrote the story, alongside Samuel Jackson and sought to revitalize the long Saw running franchise. Fans of these popular ‘torture porn’ films heavily anticipated Spiral ‘s fresh perspective after the most recent sequel, Jigsaw, saw negative reviews from critics and fans alike.

Spiral looked promising from its early trailers, asking in pseudo-buddy cop and detective elements not seen in previous installments. Per the film’s official press release statement, “Working in the shadow of an esteemed police veteran, brash detective Ezekiel “Zeke” Banks and his rookie partner William Schenk take charge of a grisly investigation into murders that are eerily reminiscent of the city’s gruesome past. Unwittingly trapped in a deepening mystery, Zeke finds himself at the center of the killer’s morbid game.”

While Spiral serves as more of a standalone entry, it also boosted a new modern look, ditching the dark and yellow infused color pallet that the franchise had become known for. Fans were excited for this new project, but will sadly have to wait much longer to see it for themselves.
