James Gunn Shares Cast Photo From New Movie ‘Superman: Legacy’

James Gunn shared the first cast photos from Superman: Legacy on instagram. Following the first table read for the new Warner Bros’ film, Gunn posted a photo of himself, Peter Safran, David Corenswet, Rachel Brosnahan, and Nicholas Hoult, and other cast members.

Gunn and Safran were named co-chairs of DC Studios in 2022. David Corenswet is playing the new Man of Steel, Rachel Brosnahan is Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult is set to play Lex Luthor.

Gunn captioned the post, “After the table read with the #Superman cast. Eve, Mr. Terrific, Superman/Clark, Otis, LEx, producer Peter Safran, Jimmy, Metamorpho, Lois, Hawkgirl, me, Guy, The Engineer all together for the first time! What a wonderful day.”

The instagram post included a large part of the all-star cast including María Gabriela de Faría (The Engineer), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner), Isabela Merced (Hawkgirl), Anthony Carrigan (Metamorpho), Skylar Gisondo (Jimmy Olsen), Terence Rosemore (Otis), Edi Gathegi (Mister Terrific), and Sara Sampaio (Eve Teschmacher).

Part of Safran and Gunn’s slate for upcoming DC Universe films is Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow starring Milly Alcock. According to The Hollywood ReporterAlcock is set to appear in a DC Universe film prior to her leading role in the Supergirl film. Specifics on which film Alcock will star in is still unknown.

Hoult, who plays Lex Luthor, dawned a bald head for his character at the table read. In December, Gunn posted a photo with Hoult following Mad Max: Fury Road captioning it, “We went out to dinner last night to celebrate & discuss how we can create a Lex that will be different from anything you’ve seen before and will never forget.”

Superman: Legacy will premier in theaters on July 11, 2025.
