James Gunn Confirms That ‘The Suicide Squad’ Has A Post Credit Scene

James Gunn, always the Twitter announcer, recently confirmed that his upcoming film, The Suicide Squad, indeed has at least one post credit scene. Gunn announced this on his public Twitter account during his regular Q&A with fans.

Gunn said this in response to a series of tweets about the relative focus on easter eggs, cameos, and post-credit scenes in DC and MCU films as opposed to great stories and characters. Everyone of the director’s superhero films thus far have focused mainly on characters, which is incredibly important in any form of media.

Overall, it is clear that Gunn is focused on creating media that has importance to him, and thus it becomes important to the audience.

However, Gunn does say that he loves post credit scenes and they are more or less a fun extra bit as opposed to something groundbreaking.

This can be scene in the five after/mid credit scenes in Guardians of the Galaxy VOL. 2, which showed off Kraglin’s new costume, the original Guardians, the Watchers, Teen Groot, and a tease at Adam Warlock. All of which are important to the series, but none of which are so important that someone cannot understand the characters’ roles in the subsequent Guardians, Avengers, or MCU films.

While there will be an after credit scene in Gunn’s upcoming DC film, let it be known that it will most likely not have a grand impact on the DC movies as a whole.

The Suicide Squad stars Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, Viola Davis, John Cena, and many more, but it’s best not to get attached. The film is set for an August 6, 2021 hybrid release in theaters and on HBO Max.
