Oppenheimer is based upon the book by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin, American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer, and will star Murphy in the titular role. James D’Arcy has appeared in Avengers: Endgame, The Snowman, Jupiter Ascending, along with working with Nolan previously in Dunkirk. He has also starred in TV series like The Hot Zone: Anthrax and Agent Carter. Angarano has starred in the hit series This Is Us, which earned him an Emmy nomination, along with HBO Max’s Minx, Peacock’s Angelyne, and A Teacher.

The rest of the star-studded cast comprises Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, Matthew Modine, Dylan Arnold, David Dastmalchian, Olli Haaskivi, and Jason Clarke.
