Ian McShane to Join Patrick Wilson in ‘The Man On Carrion Road’

Ian McShane is not the household name he should be, although some recent turns in blockbuster fair like Snow White and the Huntsman and Pirates of the Caribbean have gone some of the way towards changing that.  The actor has an amazing talent for lending depth and nuance to dark and murky characters, as evidenced by his excellent work on Deadwood.  McShane looks to be returning to these darker roots in The Man on Carrion Road.

The film follows the sheriff of small border town who must team up with the aging sheriff he replaced to stop a bloodthirsty cartel after a drug deal goes horribly wrong.  Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring) is attached to play the young sheriff and now it appears that McShane will be filling the shoes of his older, more violent counterpart.  The film marks director Gonzalo López-Gallego’s third English-language film, after Apollo 18 and Open Grave.  While neither of those films have been successes (Apollo 18 is outright just bad) there is hope yet for The Man on Carrion Road.  Patrick Wilson is an excellent actor in his own right and opposite McShane, there is bound to be energy on the screen.

2014 should be a busy year for McShane.  He stars in the film Cuban Fury, coming out this Valentine’s Day, and he just recently wrapped shooting on Brett Ratner’s Hercules.
