Hasbro’s Action Man Is Getting A Live-Action Movie

Action Man is officially making the leap from the toy aisle to the big screen. According to Variety, Hasbro is developing a live-action film based on the iconic action figure, with Working Title producing the project. The screenplay will be written by Simon Hatt, whose previous credits include producing Guardians of the Galaxy and working on X-Men ’97. Variety also reports that Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, the creative team behind Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, are producing through their GoldDay banner.

While plot details are still being kept under wraps, the project is in the early stages of development, meaning casting and a release date have not yet been announced. Even so, the film has already generated interest thanks to the experienced team bringing it to life. First introduced in the 1960s, Action Man became one of the United Kingdom’s most recognizable toy brands and has remained popular for decades. The upcoming adaptation is the latest example of Hasbro continuing to expand its toys into feature films, following the success of several other toy-inspired projects.

According to Variety, the movie is still in development, so fans will have to wait a little longer to learn more about the story and characters. For now, the announcement marks the beginning of a new chapter for Action Man, as one of Britain’s best-known action figures prepares for his first live-action adventure.
