Hans Zimmer Already Working on ‘Interstellar’

Besides Christopher Nolan, what do The Dark Knight trilogy of Batman films, Inception, and Man of Steel all have in common? That would be composer Hans Zimmer, of course. It comes as no shock, then, that the prolific composer will be scoring Nolan’s next film, Interstellar. In fact, he’s already begun.

“I wrote something,” Zimmer told Collider in a recent interview, “and I’m writing that. So yes, we have started.” Interstellar is currently still in pre-production, but with a November 7, 2014 release date should begin shooting soon. Nolan has lined up a cast of Oscar winners and nominees in Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, and Matthew McConaughey, arguably an even better ensemble than the cast of Nolan’s 2010 hit Inception.

Although Zimmer has become a familiar name even to many casual moviegoers in recent years (who can forget the iconic “BWAAAAAA”s of Inception), his career as a film composer began back in 1976 with a track on in Robin and Marian. His first full composing gig didn’t come until Success is the Best Revenge, nearly a decade later, but since then Zimmer has been a constant presence in Hollywood, working on films such as Rain Man, Driving Miss DaisyA League of Their Own, The Lion King (for which he won an Oscar), Gladiator, and the Pirates of the Carribbean series.

Color us at mxdwn Movies excited to hear his latest work when both Man of Steel  and Interstellar drop in a couple weeks and just over a year, respectively.
