It was announced by HBO Max that the new streaming service owned by Warner Bros. will be producing and releasing a new film titled UNpregnant, based of book of the same name written by Jenni Hendriks and Ted Caplan. It will star both Haley Lu Richardson and Barbie Ferreira as two ex-best friends on a road trip to New Mexico after Richardson’s character, Veronica, finds out she’s pregnant. The pregnancy puts Veronica in a difficult situation since college had looked promising for the 17-year-old. The road trip, coupled with the pregnancy leads Veronica and Bailey (Ferreira) to be grateful for friendships and realize how important good ones are to have in their lives.
The film will be directed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg, who has directed for various television shows including Man Seeking Woman and The Mindy Project. Erik Feig of Picturestart and Greg Berlanti of Greg Berlanti Productions will produce.
Richardson is well known for her leading role in the 2019 romantic drama Five Feet Apart, opposite Cole Sprouse, and a supporting role in the 2016 coming of age film The Edge of Seventeen. Ferreira has recently made her screen debut as Kat Hernandez in the hit HBO series Euphoria opposite Zendaya.
