‘Godzilla vs. King’ Sequel To Shoot in Australia Later This Year

According to Deadline, Screen Queensland has reported that the highly anticipated sequel to the 2021 film Godzilla vs King will begin filming in Australia later this year. The State Premier Annastacia Palaszscuk said today that cameras will begin rolling in locations across the Gold Coast and the southeast on the Legendary picture which will mark the fifth installment of the Monsterverse franchise. Director Adam Wingard told Deadline that he would love to continue to be a part of the franchise. He looks forward to exploiting the mystery behind the films and what can be pushed to the next level. 

Screen Queensland also reported that the film will bring a $79.2M economic boost to the region of filming and create 505 local jobs for cast and crew, plus 750 opportunities for extras. The previous film, shot in Queensland went on to gross over $468M globally. 

Palaszczuk added, “The production is expected to inject more than double the $36.5 million that Godzilla Vs Kong brought to the state and is a welcome boost to our economy as we recover from the impacts of the global pandemic and southeast Queensland flooding events. These types of productions benefit our screen industry, deliver local jobs, and provide a welcome boost to our small businesses and communities in and around our production sites.”
